Healthy living begins with the awareness of the value of good health and the ways to achieve it. Good health means we can enjoy a sense of well being, achieve greater productivity and accumulate savings otherwise spent on healthcare expenses. In Singapore, our health indicators are comparable to those of developed countries. However, this is not good enough.

Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD)

MOH together with MCYS and MOE is closely monitoring the number of HFMD cases in Singapore. We are seeking the cooperation of all to ensure that childcare centres and kindergartens exercise high standards of personal and environmental hygiene to prevent cases from escalating and minimise exposure.

To help parents be more aware of the situation and increase alertness in watching out for HFMD symptoms in their child, the MOH provides a list of closed childcare centres and kindergartens, and those with prolonged transmission of HFMD. The list which is updated every Wednesday and Friday is available here.

Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters at Jurong Lake

A second water playground in the west has opened, providing a family fun spot for people to enjoy. ABC Waters at Jurong Lake features a 235-metre-boardwalk and fishing deck, as well as a stage and viewing gallery along the south-western promenade. Floating wetlands along the boardwalk attract wildlife such as fish and birds, enhancing the biodiversity of the lake, while a 20-metre-high fountain adds to the beauty of the lake, both by day and night.

Besides Jurong Lake, 7 other ABC Waters projects have been completed and 10 projects are currently underway, with 7 scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Explore the other ABC Waters developments around Singapore.
